Your Story Matters

Every SEND family has a story to tell. Councils may try to silence or dismiss us, but when we speak together, our voices cannot be ignored. By sharing your experience, you not only shine a light on injustice, you also help other parents feel less alone, and give strength to a growing movement demanding change.

Why Share Your Story?

Your story shows the reality behind the numbers. It helps us demonstrate that what happened to one family is happening to many. Stories can be used (with your consent) in campaigns, petitions, press articles, and meetings with MPs to prove that the system is broken. Together, these accounts will build the case for reform.

How We’ll Use Your Story

We treat every submission with care. You choose whether your story is public or kept private. With your permission, we may feature your words on this website, in press briefings, or share them with campaign partners. No details will ever be used without your consent.

Tell us what happened in your SEND journey. You might include:

  • When you applied for an EHCP and how long it took.– What support your child should have received, and what was missing.

  • How the council or school responded to your requests

  • The impact this has had on your child and family.

Please be as detailed as you can. Your story helps show the reality behind the system.

HOW WE HELP

SEND Rights Now is a parent-led campaign fighting for the rights of disabled children to receive the education they are legally entitled to. Councils must be held accountable when they break the law and leave children without support.

We’re not here to provide legal forms or duplicate the advice that other excellent organisations already offer. Groups like IPSEA, SOS!SEN, and Contact provide families with guidance and individual case support.

SEND Rights Now has a different mission: to fight for the rights of your children and to hold councils accountable when they break the law.

When you contact us and share your story, or when you choose to partner with us, you’re joining a movement that’s focused on systemic change. Our goal is simple but powerful — to make sure no disabled child is left without education, and to ensure councils are held responsible for their failings.

Together, our voices are stronger. Together, we can force change.
